     Film Sex filmography, often known as pornographic films (pornos), are movies that feature explicit sexual content in an effort to titillate and delight the viewer. Erotically arousing content, such as nudity (softcore) and sexual intercourse, is frequently included in pornographic films that depict sexual desires (hardcore). The distinction between "erotic" and "pornographic" films is sometimes drawn on the grounds that the latter features more explicit sexuality and places a greater emphasis on arousal than narration

      Depending on the market and the technology available, pornographic movies are made and released on a range of platforms, including cable TV, home video, DVDs, and traditional film stock in a number of formats.       Since the development of the motion picture in the 1880s, racy movies have been made. Such movies were profitable to make, and several producers started to focus exclusively on them. Different social groups viewed these representations as immoral, referred to them as "pornographic," and made various unsuccessful attempts to have them banned under obscenity laws. These movies kept coming out, but they could only be accessed through underground channels. These movies were watched in brothels, adult theaters, stag parties, homes, private clubs, and night cinemas because watching them was considered taboo.

     Home video pornography grew in popularity in the 1980s after some acceptance of porn films within the so-called "Golden Age of Porn" of the 1970s. When the Internet was widely used in the late 1990s and early 2000s, it changed the transmission of pornographic videos and made "obscenity" charges and international censorship laws more challenging.
